Broken Skies Theresa Kay Books
An interesting story, mostly a romance with some alien abilities thrown in. There were surprises and twists—like Emily!—that kept me reading. A good amount of action and great pacing. At first I thought Jax (Jasmine), the main character, was too disjointed and emotional; she seemed unstable and a bit annoying. Then I realized she was supposed to be unstable. She had constant almost-panic-attacks stemming from a trauma in her past that she learned to control. So I guess that worked, even though perhaps a bit overdone. The whole passionate smashing-lips kissing romance thing seemed a bit excessive, but it’s pretty much part of this paranormal genre, and I admit I have a low tolerance for that in books. I wasn’t a fan of the ending, mostly because it seemed like a contrived misunderstanding between Jax and Lir just to get the story to continue on with the next book. It was also odd that the E’rikon are supposed to be aliens, but they pretty much looked like humans except for stunning eyes, metallic-hued hair, and some feathery scale things growing down their neck and back. Lovers of paranormal romance would probably enjoy this book.

Broken Skies Theresa Kay Books Reviews
First, I suppose, let me tell you that I've never been one to read sci-fi. It takes a lot for me to even read paranormal, but it seems lately, that's all I've been reading. So, I can do all the paranormal stuff... but Aliens? Ugh. Really? You want me to like creepy aliens?!
But damn it if Theresa didn't succeed in making me fall for a freaking alien!
So in the beginning I was torn between Lir and Flint. Flint seemed like a good guy - wanted to take care of Jax... and he is and he does... it just seems that he wants to take care of someone else more. MIND BLOWN! Did *not* see that coming.
Let's talk about Mr. Alien himself...Lir. I mean... LIR. Sweet lord... I don't even know what to say about him. He's hot. He's cold. He's hot again. He's confusing as ever. And then... BAM!! OhMyGod... LIR?!?! NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! (<--- My Exact reaction).
And Jax - the awesome bad ass protagonist, who is more than she seems. I kind of thought I was going to be annoyed by her in the beginning, but she makes it really easy for you to care about her.
I really feel like I was just digging deeper into the story, when it was OVER! I mean, there was a whole story arc, but I felt like we were just getting to the *even more* good stuff.
Cliffhanger.... Just going to say that.
This book had me ALL OVER THE PLACE. Happy, sad, angry, tummy fluttery, giddy, outraged, betrayed....just... all over the place.
With all that being said... CAN FRACTURED SUNS COME OUT NOW PLEASE?!?!? I mean, I realize this book *just* came out... but I wouldn't mind for Fractured Suns to come out tomorrow. I'm just saying... GIVE THE FANS WHAT THEY WANT!
Freaking amazing... Thanks for sucking me into the world of aliens.
There are times when I enjoy only YA/ High-school/College romances, but then there are times when I really enjoy this type of novels - YA/Sci-Fi.
This one is nice if you want to start reading this type of books, because the story flows easily, the characters are likeable and the story carries you further and further.
The only thing I really did not like was how selfish was Jace and how stupid sometimes was Jax. I just could not bear her stupidness in some moments. She always jumped to the worst possible betrayals made by Lir, she did not listen, she was unstable like time-ticking bomb. I understand that she was so unstable due to the things that happened to her in that lonely cabin where she and Jace lived, but still... it is not possible that one day you trust a person, even love him, the next - hate and even do not ask for answers, just think the worst about him. So that is the reason why 4 stars, not 5 - because I hated the main heroine.
A very interesting enjoyable read. I like how the author put the alien race as indifferent toward the human race. You can't help but feel for the main character who has gone through so much and is on this journey of self discovery. It does have some of the stereotypical character types for a Dystopian story, but it works out perfectly. I really enjoyed how the plot started, steadily rose in the middle, and how the story ended. Over all, very well written in I can't wait to read the next one.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading this book but I was in for a nice surprise. It doesn't fit neatly into a category either. It is YA SciFi with a bit of romance, a lot of thrills, some dystopian, fantasy, and will definitely leave you wanting more. I can't wait to see where the next book in the series will find the characters and how everything will turn out between the aliens and humans, Especially between Lir and Jax.
RATING 4.5 stars
REVIEW If you think this sounds interesting or you enjoyed JLA's alien series, then I highly recommend that you try this book out. It's great! (don't get me wrong, Broken Skies definitely has it's own character to set it apart)
If you listen to audio books, I'd definitely recommended this in that format as well. (I listened to this one). Liked it enough to purchase the second one in the series (disappointed to learn book 2 is not in audio format yet).
This book made me smile a lot. Yet, it packs some moments that will make you hold your breath in anticipation. )
Kinda cheesy at times, but not in an irritating way. )
NOT GONNA LIE TO KICK IT...
LOVED IT! FUN & RECOMMENDABLE!
I cannot forget these characters! <3
Looking for a fun quick read with a little romance? this is it! )
